FAQ and Release Policy

How do the doves know how to get back to their home? A miracle of nature takes place. Whether a single dove is released or a flock they can find their way home from great distances. We believe that they can see polarized and ultra violet light waves and can read magnetic fields and that they also posess a keen sense of sight and smell. These are thought to be some of the ways they use to navigate back home.

Georgia Doves will not be released if any severe weather conditions exist. This includes high winds, fog, thunderstorms, and heavy rain or snow.

We will release our doves only if there is enough time for them to reach home before dusk. This may limit the release area in terms of about a 350 mile radius of Woodstock. However other loft owners may participate in areas outside of this radius so do not hesitate to call for a quote.

We release only well trained and cared for white racing pigeon stock. No other type of dove should ever be released. (Only doves that have been bred from racing stock possess the skills and stamina to return home safely from great distances.)

We will not ship birds by mail for self-release. There will always be at least one knowledgeable release coordinator present at every event.

Your deposit is returned if the doves cannot be released due to acts of God.

Georgia Doves are fed a special diet prior to your event so there is no worry of anyone being soiled. We have placed special matting inside the release baskets for the birds comfort and safety and to keep their feet clean. The main objective of the doves is to return home safely to their family and loft so they will depart from their release immediately.

Due to the increased cost of gasoline and traffic congestion in the Metropolitan Atlanta Area fees for release must be quoted on an individual basis. Most releases start at about $400.00. Please call for a quote and for personalized service and pricing.
